We spend so much time fixing up our homes and decorating them so that it reflects our style preferences and such. We’ll enjoy the fruits of our effort for a while, but then it sometimes feels stale. How do you freshen up your home so that you fall in love with it all over again? Or, more importantly, how can you fix up your home in a way that will have potential buyers fall in love with it?
We have 5 quick and easy ways you can breathe new life into your home without breaking the bank.
1. Rearrange furniture
Sometimes all we need to make a space feel fresh again is to rearrange some furniture. A new layout can have a huge impact with very little effort (and it’s free!). Go around your house and see where you can swap pieces of furniture from one room to another. Also, don’t forget to move the furniture away from the wall an inch or two so that there’s some breathing room.
2. Change the color palette
Color plays a very big role in our moods and if you’re tired of the same old color palette, switch things up a little. With a couple gallons of paint, you can give a room a whole new look and feel. You can draw inspiration from a favorite piece of art, current color trends, or browse online inspiration boards.
3. Add more greenery
You can never go wrong by adding plants to any decor scheme. Ferns, peace lilies, aloe, and palms are beautiful (yet hard to kill) plants that are sure to add color. If you want something that is very low maintenance, cactus and succulents are good options, too.
Note: if you have pets, do a little research first because some house plants can be harmful to pets.
4. Bring in the light
This is probably one of the easiest ways to freshen up your home. If you have dark curtains (or curtains in a heavy fabric/texture), switch them out with curtains that are light and airy. If you don’t have a lot of windows, you can add a few lamps or change existing light fixtures for relatively cheap online or at your favorite hardware store.
5. Change cabinet hardware
Changing the hardware on the cabinets is an easy way to elevate the look of your kitchen and bathroom without spending a fortune. If you want to go the extra mile, you can even give the cabinets a fresh coat of paint and when you step back, you won’t believe you’re in the same space!
Elevating the look and feel of your home doesn’t have to involve expensive renovations. These are just a few simple ways you can breathe new life into your home on a budget. Plus, these tips can be done in one weekend! Pretty sweet, don’t you think?
